Baked Bean Sunday

Fundraisers: Fiona Austin

A challenge where you do less, not more, this Sunday 20th December.

On Sunday 20th December, please forgoe your usual Sunday main meal for a meal of baked beans on toast.  Donate the amount you save here and you will help serve a Christmas Meal to clients of West End Impact in Morecambe on the very same day*.  Normally around 75 come but this year they are expecting more.
Simple.  If you don't like beans, have soup.  If Sunday doesn't suit, choose a different day.  It's all very flexible.

Why beans?  Why now? Why West End Impact?

- Giving up a normal meal is something that everyone can do and give what they can.  Kids really get the idea and it involves them in practical giving at Christmas.
- No one needs more things to do at Christmas and we all benefit from living simply sometimes.
- West End Impact work in a deprived area of Morecambe, Lancs, to bring hope and change lives, mainly through Support, Advice and Guidance sessions.  Last year they supported over 400 individuals with just a handful of staff and a team of volunteers.
- This challenge is organised by members of Trendlewood Church, Nailsea.  Our worship intern in 2013, Jono, came from Morecambe and he got us interested in the work of West End Impact.  Jesus taught us to love our neighbour and we think our neighbour can live anywhere.
If you want to give your money in person, please bring it along to any service at Trendlewood Church, Nailsea over the Christmas period.
*The money we raise will help restock the project after the Christmas lunch.

Welcome!

In 2002 West End Impact started its journey of Reacting to Crisis and Rebuiding Lives!! We opened in response to the regeneration of Morecambe which was a government focus at the time.

Regeneration starts with people and although the new prom in Morecambe is amazing an the future plans of the 'Eden Project' will be amazing, there are still lots of people in need in this current economic climate.

In 2002 we saw the great need and although some of our services have change to adapt to different needs, still over 550 people were helped at West End Impact last year!

As a Christian Charity we believe God’s love for people is all inclusive, relevant for the whole human being.
For some the Good News of Jesus is a challenging word in season or a great sermon; for others it is a hot bowl of soup, housing advice and a dry sleeping bag.

The motivation of all that we do at IMPACT is our Faith, Hope and Love and we hope we can continue to inspire this in every single person we come into contact with. This could be someone in need or one of the many agencies, schools and organisations we network and rub shoulders with in the area of Morecambe & Lancaster

- in the last 12 months..

- over 550 individuals collectively received help over 5600 times

- over 90 people received intense support for their depression & anxiety

- over 530 food parcels gave people and families 5 days of food when they had absolutely nothing

- more than 60 times we helped people find a home or keep their tenancy

- 18 vulnerable adults went to crucial appointments because we went with them

- 35 people and families could switch their lights on and heat their home

- over 90 people received or kept the benefits they are entitled to because we supported them with advice, phone calls, computer access, letters, appointments and appeals

- 15 people have said that without West End Impact they wouldn't be alive anymore.

- over 40 volunteers contributed more than 3500 hours as part of our volunteer program with training, mentoring and support to help people build confidence, self-esteem, new skills and become more employable.

- we also served over 3300 meals to vulnerable adults and families, and Christmas Dinner for 95 people
